water water everywhere
Sep. 29th, 2004 02:01 pmWell, I got home last nite after a slight diversion to Finely, a Knitty Party. I dropped in to get frog-lady some sock yarn for a trade. (Nope, I do not have sock yarn in my stash.. And my 1 and a half socks agree with me that this is a wise decision so far.) I spent some time looking at their goods and then was invited to sit down and stay as long as I liked while she taught a class. So I sat down and pulled out Hush Hush and got quite a bit done on her, until I hit a snag.. Ya know when you are so tired but you want to knit anyway? well I did and missed a row of purls by about 100 sts. So I pulled out the other knitting in my bag: the Alan Scarf which is Yarn a Go Gos good old cabled scarf with my silly thumbprint in the center. I promise to get pics up of things when they look more like things and less like blobs.
So I knit for awhile at Finely.. and felt the rain, even though we were inside the door was open and the splash from the swiftly moving stream in front of the store refreshed us every once in awhile. I decided it was time to trek back to the house and cat. Got home drenched and cold. I doubt it would have mattered when I left the store.. or if I ahd even not gone. I simply was going to be wet last nite even with the umbrella I borrowed from the house. The cat was in a fine mood as she wanted to go outside. But when I held the door open she gave me a nasty face as if to say, "hey! turn off that water lady!" She was miffed at me until after 10pm when she finely went to bed. She gave a long low howl as she got to the top of the stairs to remind me that it was my fault it was raining, and she wouldn't forget it. (PS. did I mention that she snores? loudly? this cat is a real trip I say.) We had a moment of electricity loss, but overall I can't say I was harmed by Jeanne.. but BOY is she still angry. The amount of water she dumped on us was a site. And the pictures I saw this mornign of stranded cars made me glad I have been taking the train to the city.
So I've got more done on Alan's Scarf and the Hush Hush is again behaving after I ripped back a few 100 sts. Been thinking about my plans for October and Rhinebeck. There is so much to do and I doubt I will get it all done. Gonna get my size 3 dpns tonite and re-swatch for the glove. If it still looks shoddy I'll go with the 4s. Any good glove patterns out there?
