I'm a nerd.
Jul. 13th, 2004 08:51 amNot really a big surprise for anyone who really knows me. I've been called a nerd since I was a wee babe by my Aunt Nancy. That is her moniker for practically everyone, so I had no idea it wasn't a term of affection until I was in first or second grade. But honestly, she was- and is- right. I am a big, huge, honking nerd of nerd-sized proportions. Why? I will demonstrate by giving you a taste of my evening last nite.
I busted my buns to get home last nite. To try and stay dry in our torrential downpour? Not quite. Simply because it was library nite at the local library. I wanted to rush over there and pick up some books for some article research. I sat at my computer all last nite typing and tweaking. But could I leave well enough alone? Of course not. I also made a yummy taco dinner, fixed the supports on the bed, and watched the nerdiest show of all nerdom: History Detectives on PBS. Can I just say that a rousing shout for Takufu Zuberi is echoed in my house everytime we see his face? His name is even cool to say. Ta-ku-fu. How awesome is that? Last nite's show was about old Hollywood, and there were several shout outs to Sue's old neighborhood in E.LA. I think it made her happy to see her old haunts, even if it was only on television. Then, when I was losing interest in the tv, (and really, I wasn't paying it that much attention, because Takufu didn't have his own segment) we finished off the evening with American Choppers and Monster House. With my typing furiously at the keyboards I only had time to look up and occasionally shout at the television: did you check your math?!! because it looks like you're off by a couple of inches! See? Complete nerd. I am a hopeless case. I don't even LIKE math..
So I am about 1/2 way done with my article, I watched some quality educational television (when I was actually watching), and I got all of my chores done- except putting the last vestiges of the old bedroom away. I cannot tell you how much better I sleep now that the room is moved around. I know it sounds funny, but its true. Very little knitting content, but I did notice that I messed up my decreases on the new boob of the bikini so I'll do some ripping this afternoon. Its only about 4 rows or so, it shouldn't take me long to fix it. Tomorrow nite is Knit-In at Tangled Web. Anyone care to join me?
