I am knitting,
Aug. 10th, 2004 09:54 ambut it is a present and so I don't want to spoil the surprise. *sigh. Its a big, long, repeating pattern. I've added beads so it isn't too monotonous. But it still taking a long time. I measured it last nite and it is 1/2 way done.... not long enough. Just keep knitting.
My thoughts to console myself as I knit away: 1) my shawl patiently waiting in the bag. (I take it with me even though nothing is being done to it.. It likes to travel as well as it cheers me up with its lovely colors) 2) Tangled Web knit-nite is next week on the 18th. I will be there with said shawl and blithely knitting away.. happy as a clam. until... 3)holiday presents. ARGH! I have not officially started a single present yet.. but I have gathered all of the essential ingredients for a few.. and as soon as my other pressing things are done I will be a holiday knitter.
There are a few wonderful things that are in the future with which I am rewarding myself (and Sue too, she is also rewarding me.) 1) Rhinebeck. I haven't made official plans with the aunt yet.. but I want to go this year. I might have NO MONEY to buy anything... but I can look and plot and plan and take business cards. 2) KR knitter's retreat. I wanted to do this with my BF Cassa, but she bowed out b'c she is going to PARIS!! I was worried b'c they always sell out, but I got my confirmation today. Sue is paying half for my birthday present (early). I am paying the other half. and 3) Spirit Trail Yarn corset tank top. (scroll to near bottom of the page) This, my friends, is what I am rewarding myself with when my christmas knitting is done. Designed by Annie Modesitt with yarn from Spirit Trails. I saw it at Annie's house the day before it was done. I wanted to buy it then. It just went up on their website yesterday and I will be seeing Jennifer Heverly both at Rhinebeck and the retreat. I will be saving my pennies to buy it at the retreat and start my new year's resolution of 2005: Knit only for myself unless commissioned otherwise. I have all these projects planned for me. Waiting patiently. And starting next year (or after the x-mas projects, whichever comes first) I will be knitting only for ME!
