pictures, we have your pictures...
Jun. 11th, 2004 09:57 amI promised lots of pics and here they are.(***edited 7/19/04 for bandwidth. All pics of unfinished items removed in favor of finished items later in posting.)
First, my kidlet tank design by Amy. Its for my niece, Dakota, who turned 3 last month. The yarn: Cascade Rainbow.
Super soft with the look and consistancy of rickrack. A little hard to knit, but soo soft I couldn't resist. The colors 710 and 711 are really dark for a kid, but I figure it won't show spills. Who knows how this will wear. I figure if it pills the color being dark won't show it all that much. And at 3 yrs old.. if it pills how long is she really gonna wear it?? For all those following along the link to all their yarns is here.
Next, my CW. I have a couple pics of her. First, the long view from the center stitch (not all rows are included, prolly 26-90.) I like the way the color migrates on this pattern. Even if I didn't follow the color change scheme exactly. (4 colors instead of 5) and the second shot is of all the colors side by side. The way I put them in the shawl from top to bottom is to read them left to right. Blue will be the last color on my CW and most possibly the crochet edge as well.
Last a pic of my quilt pieces. I cut this out a few weeks ago, but my knitting has been more important. It is from the book "The Quilt Room, Dorking, England" by Lintott and Miller. It is called Black Gold. I took a pic of the pattern from the book but it was too small/fuzzy to see. I am making mine in reds, blacks and golds. It will be around 3x3ft when done (basically a wall hanging).
I want to start sewing this up soon, as I will be taking a class from the boys of Quiltstock in Woodstock, NY in August. I sorta relate to the guys who own Quiltstock much like I relate to the guys who own Threadbear. Good customer service, friendly attitude, and alot of love for what they do. I am taking this magic tile class.
I plan on making it in primary and secondary color batiks. In fact I plan on making 2 and sewing them up side by side.. perfect size for a queen sized bed!! Sue and I will hopefully have a nice handmade quilt by christmas.
Did I get any knitting done last nite? NOPE! Last minute delight from Parker who called and asked me out for a trip to Target. Got myself some things I needed for the storage run (read: rubbermade tubs for clothes) and other sundries. Had dinner at one of my fave places: Cracker Barrel. Spent a wee little amount of time in the buns and noodle looking at books. To top it off I got a boatload of new to me cookbooks from Parkers old stash. YUMMY! Very happy. Spent last nite getting these pics taken and up and then off to bed.
