I read about composting drop off locations in NYC and I was trying to find some in the Philly area. I am kinda bummed b'c I cannot seem to find any. I found some great links I thought I'd put up.

The first one is a local org about taking care of the environment.

This is the same org, but places to directly recycle different things in the Philly area. (well except the cork thing.. you send your corks to be recycled to MO which sounds like the only US recycling location)

a place that takes recycling to a whole new level.. I saw this on TV with Ella last week. Their colors are fabulous! It's a green countertop business in Brooklyn:

This looks like an idea.. I don't know if they are working with Philly or not.

I do all this anyway.. but if you ever need it:

re: recycle bank -- every time i talk to them (about every 6-9 months), they seem to not be aware of what's going on or what ZIP codes are in Philly. i'm due to talk to them again and i just saw that the starbucks behind Central (19th and Callowhill) has partnered with RB... i like the idea, but we'll see what happens the next time i talk to them...

also, the streets department offers free composting workshops and if you bring a photo of your house with the address, you qualify for a free composter. this would have been great when you guys had more of a backyard... the number for the composting program (you can attend lectures and not get the composter) is 216-686-5444.
