So this weekend Sue and I went to see another movie (2 in a month is HUGE for us) we went to "Curse of the Golden Flower" and we both loved it.

I had no idea Sue would be so excited to see a chinese film with me. I always think I am the only one who wants to see them. Whenever I go I always seem to be alone in the theater so I don't think I am that far off on the whole "who would want to see this with me?" But it had ninjas and Sue was ALL over that. Obviously so was everyone else. This movie was PACKED on a saturday nite. I cannot count the number of times I have been alone in a chinese film. Chow Yun Fat and Gong Li were both spectacular. The ninjas were appropriately spooky and cool. The cinematography was ABSOLUTELY luscious. The colors so very deep and rich as a chinese film should be. A perfect tragedy. LOVED IT.

Had Marfa over for dinner before the movie. She wasn't feeling good or we would have ended up seeing Venus instead of Curse.

I adore Asian cinema, particular Chinese movies. I own Farewell My Concubine, because clearly I like to cause myself massive amounts of pain.

ah... good movie. Have you seen "In the Mood for Love" with tony leung and maggie cheung?? I just foudn another movie I need to see called 2046 with them in it. Something about the movie being the same situation but different characters. My chinese movie obsession is so hampered by american dross.
