heading outta town!
Oct. 15th, 2004 08:42 amLast nite was lovely. Got to TW for the charity knit nite around 6. Mary was there... gosh I can't remember the last time I saw Mary. She was in fine spirits and bustling around the store. Each of us took a ball of merino and started our chemo caps. I chose a denim blue. I also took a dusty rose which I think I'll try a fair isle pattern on with some left over lt grey I have. It was a quieter knit nite. I think about 10 of us were there. Overall a lovely evening.
Tonite though... Tonite I am off to NY where I will get to Rhinebeck for the weekend. I am too excited. I've never been to one of these sheep and wool events. My aunt lives nearby and she's been for the past few years. I am not *planning* on spending any money... merely looking and thinking ALOT. I do plan to put 1/2 down on my knit silk corset from Spirit Trails and picking the colors for her to dye. That way when I see her at the retreat I can pay the other half and get the goods. I know I want to see Morehouse Merino (my favorite wool) and I would love to see Green Mountain Spinnery. Other than that I plan on walking around with my mouth agape and wishing I had all the time in the world. Sue wants to get the makings for another sweater vest. She really loves the vest I made her and I think that there will be another one in her future.
In the Hush Hush dept I am past the 15 inch mark. I am very happy about that. The TW knit niters all thought it was beautiful. I got several compliments and was asked to model it (as if... right now it is the length of a very short mini skirt of which I could not fit my butt into.) When I got home last nite I only had 8 rows to finish the pre-felted hat, so I sat in bed and finished it. I think it turned out pretty well (of course the washing might change my mind on that) But even pre-felted it looks like a wearable hat.. albeit large and very... hmmmm.. mushmouth like. Pics on Monday!

Had lunch with
jackiemanni and it was so lovely. Pumpkin cranberry soup was so-oo good and rich I couldn't even finish it (and that's saying something!) Afterwards a little shopping and chit chit about knitting. Thanks Jackie! I needed to get out of my cube.
My secret pal dropped a box in the mail today. I have a few questions I have been asked to answer. I hope it helps.
1. Mohair or cashmere? Well seeing as I have not knit with either of them I can't really say.. More likely cashmere b'c I like the look of well defined stiches. Mohair is so beautiful I just want to pet it like my cat.
2. What are your top 3 bands/musicians currently? (eek! too hard!!!) um *gulp* People who know me would say Indigo Girls, Melissa Ferrick and Ani. But I also loves me some Kinky, TMBG and Cassandra Wilson. Basically I go with (in no particular order) folk, alternative, blues, jazz, rock. Sorry I tried to just give a straight answer but I couldn't. :)
3. the 80s: good, bad or ugly? The good: having fun with my friends, travelling all over the world, fun music and dancing my butt off. the bad: sucky high school, sucky midwest vibe. the ugly: I never had the Big Mall Hair(tm) others did, but the bottle glasses and the geeky buck teeth.. yup. that was all me.
Thanks for the stuff SP, you are wonderful. mwah!
