so. close!
Hopefully by the time I get home tonite I can wash the christening gown. I am 5 rows from completion! must. knit. but. also. must. work. ARGH!
And when the darn gown is done, I will celebrate with a few rows of charlotte under my belt. Just read something at Uli's website. She has very nicely shown that all that knitting gets you nowhere. (haha. just kidding!) You don't get much done until the rows get longer. And so she has broken it down by percentages. Thank's to K8 for pointing me in the right direction.
I also broke down and called the FL yarn shop where I bought the wool/cotton. I wasn't getting any response from people on KR. Every shop I know has never carried wool/cotton, and the shops I like/love have made the decision to stop carrying KFI b'c they are too much of a pain in the ass to work with. Mary at TW said that she spent many sleepless nites over the decision. Thinking well perhaps I'll only carry x yarn (prolly noro. but I am guessing.) After making her decision she has been sleeping easier, and perhaps with other shops dropping them they will either get their act together, or other companies will have to carry their lines. ANYwho, back to ordering the wool/cotton. The shop I called in FL doesn't do shipping. Nor will they take my credit card over the fone. Wha? but she said she would hold it for me until I dropped by. I told her I live in Philly.. she decided to change her mind, but only slightly. I have to send her a check (after she sends me the receipt) and then she'll mail it. I believe the purse is officially on hold for now. I have talked to quite a few shops to get this yarn. Since none have it and since they still have the same dyelot I am going to do it this way. They really are nice ladies, but perhaps they don't like any fuss.
MANNA update. I had a lovely time at the MANNA auction with Sue. They took a picture of us when we walked through the door (and gave it to us when we left!) We saw some great artwork and lovely donations. Ran into some old friends from my old neighborhood who bought something super lovely at the live auction. And tried to bid, but lost out, on several items. I had a limit that was just shy of several items I wanted. Now that I've seen what types of items go at their auction I have a few ideas for next year. I took a catalogue for me, one for Amy, and one for QueerJoe so they all could have a better idea for next year.
